Call for Applicants: PPI/adidas Leadership Development Program – Washington, DC Summer 2016

For the second year in a row, PeacePlayers International and adidas Basketball are organizing a special Leadership Development Program for 16 high school freshman (male and female) living in the greater Washington, DC area. The program will run from May 2016 to April 2017. If you know any students who have a passion for basketball and a desire to improve their communities, please encourage them to apply via the link below.

PeacePlayers International (PPI): A Washington, DC based non-profit that uses basketball to unite, educate, and inspire youth around the world. From Jerusalem to New Orleans, PPI has worked with more than 70,000 young people, receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2007 ESPYS, the 2008 Laureus Sport for Good Award, and the 2011 NGO for Peace of the Year Award from Peace and Sport.

2016 Washington, DC Leadership Development Program: From May 2016 to April 2017, Fellows will work together with trained coaches and mentors, acquiring the skills to use sport to transform their communities. Previous Fellows have come from Gonzaga College High School, Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, Friendship Prep Tech Academy, and more.

The program will launch in May with a two-day leadership development retreat, followed by weekly basketball and leadership trainings and community service projects. The program will also include one week all expenses paid trip to take part in PeacePlayers International’s program in Northern Ireland the last week of July.
