Doug was born in Washington, DC and raised in Prince George’s County, MD where he’s been playing basketball since he could walk. The life lessons basketball provided have been instrumental to his development into the person he has become.
Doug’s journey from the pavement to the classroom has been all about embracing different perspectives. He attended one of the most diverse schools in the country in Old Dominion University where he majored in Business Analytics and Management. His coursework highlighted the steadily increasing importance of data-driven business decisions. His overall college experience helped shape his views on people and the world from a global perspective.
During his senior year at ODU he was accepted into Georgetown University’s Master of Sport Industry Management program where he has been able to forge relationships with professors and students from around the world. Before starting graduate school in the Fall of 2018, Doug mapped out what he believed (at the time) had to be two separate career paths -international human development and the sports management industry. It wasn’t until Doug found out about PeacePlayers International that he realized he could merge all of his passions. Doug is thrilled to be a PeacePlayer in South Africa where one of his lifelong heros, Nelson Mandela, made an incredible mark and impact.
